At Weston’s wannaB inn, there’s absolutely nothing we love more than relaxing poolside, or on the beach looking out at the over 900’ of the beautiful Gulf of Mexico. That said, every once in a while, we need to get out and get social. Even when you’re on vacation…scratch that – especially when you’re on vacation, it’s important to get out with your friends and or family and enjoy a night out. What better way to spend a night out than catching some live music at a venue where you can also grab some delicious grub? We can’t think of one, so if you’re looking for something to do this weekend, consider heading out to the Mango Bistro, one of our favourite local spots, to catch one of the following acts.

Emily Ross

Coming up this Friday, April 13th, is a local artist, Emily Ross. Emily’s a very talented performer who will be performing her easy-image of: Emily Rosslistening folk music solo. Her music has been described as ‘electric sounding with jazz and soul influences,’ and if you’re from around the Sarasota area, you may have heard her performing in one of her other bands, “Frost and Ross” and “Fever Tree.” If haven’t had the chance to listen to her in the past, you can sample some of her songs right here before you head to the Mango to check her out. If you like her sound, then you’ll be able to catch her performing with Fever Tree later in the month, as they’ll be playing at the Mango Bistro again on April 21st.

Jazz Night

If you’re looking for something a little jazzier, then consider ‘swinging’ by the Mango Bistro on April 14th for Jazz Night! Swingtide Quintet will be performing a plethora of jazz favourites for your listening pleasure. Come for Mango’s food, but stay for the atmosphere as this group masterfully nails the groove and tune of the musical art form. If you’re an appreciator of jazz, you’re not going to want to miss out on this night of music and expression. If we’ve peaked your interest, samples of Swingtide Quintet’s performances can be found right here.

We absolutely love catching live performances around the resort – even more so when the performers are local talent. The music does a lot to add to the atmosphere of the already lovely Mango Bistro, which makes for some unforgettable Englewood nights. And isn’t that what everyone is looking for out of a great vacation. The Mango isn’t the only place offering musical performances around the wannaB however.

Recurring Events

Don’t worry about missing out on these performances, there are plenty of musical events taking place around the resort that’ll recur weekly! The Englewood Drum Circle for example gathers every Sunday, year-round. This is a fun and energetic weekly get together where participation is encouraged! People are welcome to drum along, hoola-hoop, dance or just enjoy the beats. Belly-dance, African, and Brazilian rhythms are played, but anyone is welcome to join in, regardless of their musical knowledge. The drum circle takes place a quick 15-minute drive away from the resort on Englewood Beach, and more information can be found right here.

A Quick Pick-Me-Up

Another weekly event is the live music put on by the Bean Depot Café. The Bean Depot is one of our favorite coffee spots to grab a cup of joe and enjoy it outside. What’s more, they host live music nearly every night, with a bluegrass jam session every Wednesday. The café highlights local musicians, and is a great spot to relax and hang out if you’re a coffee lover. Click here for more info.
